His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received Sameh Shoukry, Foreign Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt, in his office at the ministry here on Saturday.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral co-operation between their countries and ways to strengthen it, besides exchanging views on the latest regional and international developments. They also tackled issues of common interest.
HH Sheikh Abdullah and Shoukry agreed on a mechanism for political consultations between the UAE and Egypt. The new body will hold meetings twice a year, at the level of Foreign Ministers, and also at the level of senior officials. This framework will enhance the strategic relationship between the two countries.
The UAE is keen to enhance mutual ties with Egypt, HH Sheikh Abdullah stressed, while welcoming the visit of the Egyptian Foreign Minister.
Shoukry highlighted the historic fraternal ties between the UAE and Egypt, expressing his country’s keenness to enhance joint cooperation with the UAE.
The meeting was attended by Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Dr. Sultan bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State; Juma Mubarak Al Junaibi, the UAE Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States; and Faris Mohammad Al Mazrouei, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Security and Military Affairs.
From the Egyptian side, the meeting was attended by Wael Mohamed Gad, Ambassador of Egypt to the UAE, and Khaled Galal Abdelhamid, Permanent Representative of Egypt to the League of Arab States.
