The Ministry of Education signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Higher Education of Cuba, aimed at enhancing their cooperation in higher education and scientific research.
The MoU was signed by Dr Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Mualla, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Education for Academic Affairs, and Walter Baluja Garcia, First Deputy Minister of Higher Education of Cuba.
The Cuban delegation, led by Baluja Garcia and accompanied by Eliana Martinez Gonzalez, Director of Bilateral Affairs at the Directorate of International Relations, was also briefed about the latest developments in the UAE’s education sector, as well as the academic rankings of higher education establishments and the ministry’s plans to support higher education in the country.
The MoU stipulates that both sides would enhance their cooperation and exchange expertise and strengthen the collaboration between higher education establishments in the two countries.
The agenda of the delegation’s visit includes several visits to higher education establishments, including the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, the Higher Colleges of Technology in Abu Dhabi, and the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair. Dr. Al Mualla said the MoU will strengthen the cooperation between the two countries in all areas, most notably in higher education and scientific research. He added that the visit will help reinforce the educational ties between the two sides, create future cooperation opportunities, and build capacities in areas of mutual concern.
