UAE committed to help regional, global firms

DUBAI / WAM

As a key destination hosting regional offices of several international organisations, the UAE is committed to assisting regional and international firms to ensure they have a strong financial position, which will help achieve sustainable growth and implement their missions, HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and the UAE Minister of
Finance, said during a meeting
with the chairman and the board members of the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development (AAAID).
He was briefed about the projects implemented by the Khartoum-headquartered AAAID during
the meeting, held at his Zabeel Palace in Dubai.
Food security is one of the significant challenges facing the Arab World as most Arab countries are located in the world’s most arid zones, and have scanty water resources and small arable areas,’’ HH Sheikh Hamdan said.
‘‘The AAAID’s regional office in Dubai is yet another valuable addition towards strengthening its role in funding and promoting agricultural projects,’’ he added.
AAAID has carried out 40 projects with estimated assets of US$4.2 billion. Its investments in the UAE are estimated at $110 million.
