The UAE has participated in the 26th meeting of the GCC Ministerial Committee for Planning and Development held today in Riyadh.
In the meeting the ways to enhance integration and co-ordination in the planning and development fields among GCC member states were discussed. The participants also discussed a number of issues related to joint work and the economic integration, planning and development.
The meeting focused on the following-up of the implementation of the long-term overall development strategy from 2010 to 2025.
Mohammed Ahmed Bin Abdul Aziz Al Shehhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy of the UAE, stressed the importance of these meetings to enhance joint GCC work to promote economic development of the member states through exchange of expertise and unifying efforts in various sectors, especially planning.
He also confirmed the GCC joint co-ordination in the field of planning, which keeps pace with the march of the council towards growth, development projects, the high population growth and developments in the region linked to economic challenges and declining oil prices, which require closer co-operation and integration to face them.
He also indicated that the UAE had crossed an important milestone in terms of sustainable development which enabled the country to reach an advanced rank in terms of human development and competitiveness regionally and internationally.
