Strengthening the relations between the UAE and Kazakhstan, including in combating terrorism and extremism, along with creating a joint parliamentary friendship committee, were at the centre of a meeting between Dr Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of Federal National Council (FNC), and Darija Nazarbayev, head of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security of the Mazhilis, or lower house, of the Parliament of Kazakhstan.
Efforts being made to prevent nuclear proliferation, achieve peace and security in the region and beyond, and dissociate Islam from terrorism, as well as the need for non-intervention in the internal affairs of other states, were also discussed at the meeting.
“The UAE maintains strong relations with Kazakhstan, that are developing through trade initiatives and economic and investment co-operation, said Al Qubaisi.
Stressing the need for strengthening these ties, she noted that the two countries can benefit from their economic and industrial potentials, as well as their geographic locations as gateways to other continents.
Al Qubaisi also said the UAE is keen on promoting co-operation with all countries to achieve the common good, which is in line with the directives of President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Nazarbayev lauded the support being extended to Emirati women and noted that their empowerment has helped enhance the UAE’s international stature.
She further noted that the Global Summit of Women Speakers of Parliament, held late last year in Abu Dhabi, was a milestone in parliamentary work because participants addressed crucial global challenges to formulate visions for a better future.
Those who attended the meeting included members of the FNC and Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the UAE Kairat Lama Sharif.
