Terra Firma Capital Partners named Andrew Geczy, the former head of international and institutional banking at Australia & New Zealand Banking Group Ltd, as its new chief executive
officer.
Geczy will join the UK buyout firm full-time in September, the company said in a statement Thursday. He takes over the role at the UK buyout firm from Tim Pryce, who left the position in March.
Terra Firma, founded by British financier Guy Hands, appointed a new chief financial officer, Dominic Spiri, as well as vice chairman and head of its portfolio business, Justin King, last year.
This month, the firm agreed to sell Odeon & UCI Cinemas Group Ltd. to AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. for US$1.2 billion. AMC’s owner, Dalian Wanda Group Co, cited the UK’s June vote to leave the European Union, which sent share prices and the British currency down, for the breakthrough in its deal negotiations.
Geczy, who has more than two decades of experience in leadership roles at financial organizations, was previously CEO of wholesale banking and markets at Lloyds Banking Group Plc and global head of structured corporate finance at Citigroup Inc, Terra Firma said in the statement.
ANZ announced Geczy’s departure to seek new opportunities in January after Shayne Elliott took over as CEO of the lender.
