Increasing role of social media sites in the domain of recruitments has been phenomenal. Considering the immense scope that the technology sector could open in the field of hiring, UAE-based organisations are putting much emphasis on refurbishing their online activities.
While focussing on the role of technology in HR departments, delegates would primarily focus on the organisation and employee relationship at the HR Tech MENA Summit that will be organised by QnA International in Dubai from May 18-19.
“HR technology should enable employees to take charge of their career development and access learning content across multiple devices to feed growing need for skills development,” said Donal Murphy, EMEA Regional Lead at Halogen Software, a strategic talent management software company that helps in evaluating and managing the on-going performance with the help of technology tools.
As per the reports, HR technology provides managers and employees the resources needed to better understand staff and tasks at hand and it can also assist in career development. According to The Adecco global study 2014, the data shows that 55 percent of job seekers use social media for job search purposes. In this regard, LinkedIn is largely the most used social networking site at 35 percent
followed by Facebook at 17 percent.
Murphy also emphasised that the technology is a tool that enables the managers and employees to treat performance management as a regular part of the business where feedback and coaching is on-going and captured in real time. Real-time functionality will be supplemented by HR technology that would provide HR managers and employees a unified view of all on-going performance and development activities, while also proposing easier ways to review and revise goals.
The differences that emerge among the various geographic areas are quite significant. A peak use of social media platforms for job search can be found in Western Europe 63 percent, whilst APAC and Eastern Europe/MENA report lower rates of use, stated Adecco global study.
Too often performance management is seeing as a one-way street that usually culminates in an employee performance review. But performance management systems are bigger than this singular purpose and can be used to achieve better outcomes and overall value from employees and managers by being a tool to improve coaching and feedback conversations. “Companies in the MENA region must look for HR software designed to improve the performance of employees at every opportunity. With the help of HR technology, managing employee performance on an on-going basis can be very simple,” says Murphy.
