The General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments (Awqaf) held an extended meeting on Sunday to discuss special arrangements for offering the prayer for rain on Tuesday across the nation.
President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has called for a prayer for rain, or Salaat al Istisqaa, to be performed at all mosques and prayer areas across the UAE at 7:30 on Tuesday morning. Sheikh Khalifa called on all Muslims in the country to pray to Allah to bless the land with rain and mercy, in accordance with the Prophet Mohammed’s Sunnah Course.
Dr Mohammed Matar Al Kaabi, Chairman of Awqaf, said executive managers and heads of branches of Awqaf met today to discuss carrying out the President’s
directives.
“Imams (Prayer leaders) will educate and explain to worshippers how to perform the prayer and its benefits during lectures to be held at mosques tomorrow,†he added.
