Art enthusiasts in the UAE are being treated to a new exhibition that has just opened to the public at Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC). Titled ‘Thoughts’ the work from Jordanian conceptual artist Sana Al Jefout was displayed at Noon Art Gallery in the club’s Collage Talent Centre.
Featuring expressionist paintings that use architectural structures, formations and human groups in a distinctive harmony of shape and colour, the exhibition is both showcasing the talents of Al Jefout and highlighting SLC’s expertise in promoting cultural events.
‘Idea Revelation’ was opened by Khawla Al Serkal, Director General of SLC, who was accompanied by Abeer Shokeer, wife of the Jordan Ambassador of to the UAE; Alya Al Harmoudi, Head of Business Management at SLC; Doaa Al Muhri, Head of Corporate Communications at SLC and several directors and managers of SLC’s various departments. A number of Sharjah’s art enthusiasts were also present at the inauguration.

Sana Al Jefout’s exhibition is yet another achievement for Noon Art Gallery and is a result of its remarkable on-going efforts to discover artistic talent and to organise important cultural activities. exhibitions,†said Shaikha Al Suwaidi, Assistant manager of Collage Talent Centre.
“In addition to holding exhibitions, Noon Art Gallery also organises a number of workshops and courses that are aimed at honing the talents of amateur artists and nurturing their skills to enable them to showcase their creativity at future events.
This aligns with our vision to instil a love of art in community members, as well as support and develop art in all its forms,†Shaikha Al Suwaidi added.
SLC’s Collage Talent Center was established to be the perfect place for honing talents and nurturing skills. It offers a variety of art classes, including pottery and jewellery making, ceramic flower arrangement and drawing, as well as tuition in other artistic forms, such as ballet, piano, violin and language lessons, Quran teaching and cooking, etiquette, website design and photography workshops.
‘Thoughts exhibition features 40 expressionist portraits and still-life acrylic paintings on canvas and paper, with its artistic renderings displayed under the themes ‘Place’ and ‘Architecture.’ The exhibition reveals Al Jefout’s skill in harnessing the energy of colours, showing her talent in setting a striking colour balance by incorporating an array of palettes to create paintings that explore numerous personal, humanistic and aesthetic subject matters.
Established in 1982, SLC is a subsidiary of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, which is chaired by Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah.
The club is dedicated to facilitating leisure and educational activities for women and children, providing them with a relaxed and nurturing place where they can learn, enjoy sports and cultivate their favourite hobbies. SLC organises events that relate to society, art, health and charity, with its activities including bazaars, exhibitions, sports, seminars and forums.
