Cairo / WAM
Egyptian President Abdul Fattah El Sisi has received speakers of Arab Parliaments who are holding their first conference in Cairo.
Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the UAE’s Federal National Council, and Ali Al Jarwan, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, a pan-Arab body, were among the Arab parliamentary delegation received by El Sisi.
Al Qubaisi noted that holding the first Arab Parliamentary Speakers Conference in Egypt highlights the country’s historic role as what she called “the heart of the Arab Nation.â€
She hoped that Egypt’s House of Representatives would restore its role at the regional and international levels and support the effort being made by the government and presidency to promote development.
She congratulated El Sisi on launching the “Sustainable Development Strategy: Egypt’s vision 2030†strategy and stressed that the government and people of the UAE back Egypt.
Al Qubaisi also highlighted the importance of combining pan-Arab efforts, in parliamentary action in particular, to combat terrorism and extremism, support sustainable development and strengthen pan-Arab national security.
The meeting with El Sisi, she noted, reflects the importance of having confidence in the role parliaments play in these spheres.
