As part of its agenda to introduce world cultures to the people of Sharjah, the Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH) will host Chinese Heritage Week at the Sharjah Centre for Heritage Activities in Al Bait Al Gharbi from March 15-19.
The programme will represent different facets of the Chinese culture, including a Kung Fu Show, folk dances, and a lecture about the various cultural performances. The week will also feature world-renowned Chinese flavours, famous cinematic contributions and novels.
Abdul Aziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the SIH, commented, “At the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, we strive to highlight the significance of tradition and the exchange of knowledge and culture in order to conserve and protect different heritages around the world. Through this event, we aim to showcase the richness of the Chinese heritage, culture and identity.”
Al Musallam added, “These heritage weeks are extremely beneficial to our community. They allow the people of Sharjah to come into contact with foreign cultures and appreciate the similarities and differences that reflect the unique national identity of each
nation and its people.”
Every month, the Sharjah Institute for Heritage hosts a sisterly Arab country or a friendly foreign country under the theme, “World Heritage in Sharjah”, to showcase some unique features and characteristics of its heritage.
