His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has been voted the most prominent Arab leader 2019 in a readers’ poll conducted by Russia Today TV (RT).
According to the Russian state TV, 9.74 million out of total 14 million respondents chose Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed as the Arab world’s most prominent leader, accounting for 68.6 per cent of the total votes. The poll took place over nine days and ended on December 31.
Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman was considered the second most prominent leader, receiving almost 16 per cent of the vote while Jordan’s King Abdullah was chosen third, with 12 per cent.
Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Algerian president Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and Tunisia’s Kais Saied have also been named on the list.
The latest honour comes in recognition of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s leading initiatives in the history of humanity that has greatly contributed to the spread of a culture of tolerance and peace.
In October last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the UAE as part of his first official trip Arabian Peninsula since 2007. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and president Putin held talks in Abu Dhabi and the two leaders signed deals worth over $1 billion in various sectors. The UAE is Moscow’s largest trading partner within the GCC and almost one million Russian tourists visited the country in 2018.
