The Emirate of Sharjah registered a 1.4% decrease in road fatalities in the first half of 2016, compared to the same period in 2015, according to data released by the Department of Traffic and Patrols of Sharjah Police General Command.
First Lieutenant Lt. Khaled Al Shamsi, Head of Strategy and Excellence at the department, said that injuries caused by road accidents were also down by 26.7% from the same period last year.
Al Shamsi added that the decline in traffic accidents were due to the implementation of a road safety strategy launched by the Ministry of Interior.
