Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Centre has welcomed Amal Alamuddin Clooney, international advocate and human rights activist and one of the five guests of honour of the International Government Communication Forum 2016 (IGCF).
She is set to deliver the keynote address at the opening ceremony of the fifth edition of the IGCF on March 20.
Other eminent guests of IGCF 2016 that have arrived at the emirate include Frederic Reinfeldt, former Prime Minister of Sweden (2006-2014), who will headline the first session of the forum, with his address on Government Communication and Building Knowledge Societies.
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi said, “We are pleased to welcome our guests of honour to the fifth edition of the International Government Communication Forum. We look forward to rewarding and enriching discussions on global best practices in government communication to help develop a blueprint for further action in this dynamic field. Sharjah has established global benchmarks in culture and communication and we are confident this milestone forum will further strengthen the position of the UAE as a global communication hub.”
Expressing his appreciation at the cultural and architectural renaissance of Sharjah, Fredrik Reinfeldt expressed his thanks for being invited to participate in the Forum and for the opportunity to visits the Emirate of Sharjah.
The Forum will provide him with the opportunity to learn more about the varied ways in which government agencies around the world are approaching Government Communications.
Meanwhile, the welcoming teams of the Protocol Committee of IGCF 2016 continued to receive the over 500 VIP guests and participants at Dubai International Airport and Sharjah International Airport.
In addition, the committee is also providing guests with a detailed itinerary of the forum, its agenda and participants, as well as facilitating guided tours to historical and heritage sites in Sharjah.
The first of its kind in the Arab region, the International Government Communication Forum is an important global event that convenes decision-makers, experts and stakeholders in government communication from around the world.
It is a transparent platform for raising important issues and discussing communication-specific trends in order to develop recommendations and resolutions that can help governments and people involved in the field of government communication to enhance their performance and scope of work. The forum seeks to achieve greater convergence in the relationship between governments and the public to ensure sustainable development.
