His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Thursday attended the Second International Forum of Islamic Banking Fiqh (IBF) at Sharjah University’s Khor Fakkan campus.
“Since the opening of Sharjah Islamic Centre for the Study of Economics and Finance in Sharjah University, we have strived towards achieving the Sharjah Ruler’s vision regarding the Islamic economy and dissemination of Islamic economic thoughts,†Dr Ibrahim Ali Al Mansouri, Director of Sharjah Islamic Centre for the Study of Economics and Finance
and Chairman of the forum’s
organising committee, said in his welcome speech.
He said the forum would discuss several papers about the future aspirations and role of religious and educational institutions in the dissemination of Islamic Banking Fiqh, both from theoretical and practical perspectives.
Dr Hamid Al Nuaimi, Director of Sharjah University, said that the main objective of the forum was to focus on the Islamic Banking Fiqh.
“The forum aims to shed light on how religious and educational institutions are disseminating the principles of Islamic Banking Fiqh in the society and showcasing best projects that serve the religious institutions,†he added.
He added that discussions will also centre on the reality and challenges facing religious and educational institutions in the dissemination of Islamic banking jurisprudence in the GCC and the Arab world, as well as the desired future and aspirations of these institutions.
The Forum will review the role of Waqf in the Emirate of Sharjah, and the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai, in the dissemination of Islamic banking jurisprudence, as well as highlight the projects and initiatives of religious and educational institutions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in the dissemination of Islamic banking jurisprudence.
