With just ten days remaining in the run-up to the inauguration of the region’s much-anticipated international artistic platform for children – the fifth edition of the Sharjah Children Biennial (SCB) – a press conference to announce the details of the event will be held at Al Qasba’s Maraya Art Centre tomorrow.
Held under the patronage of the Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, the fifth edition of SCB seeks to enrich the imagination and capabilities of young artists, and is being held under the theme, ‘A World as Big as Your Imagination’.
During the press conference, speakers will reveal the host of events and programmes organised for the month-long biennial, which is kicking off in less than 10 days, on January 15. The organisers will also share details about the participating artworks, announce the jury for this edition, as well as the judging criteria for the selection of the finalists for the first, second and third places in each of the competition’s three categories, for both individual and group submissions.
The press conference will also feature a collection of artistic activities for the young members of the Sharjah Children Centres (SCC) – the organising body of SCB. Children will create artworks that represent each of the competition’s three categories, namely Environment, Architecture Design and Fantasy & Reality, under expert artistic supervision.
The organising committee of SCB has invited all media representatives, artists and all those who are interested to learn more about the fifth edition of SCB to attend the press conference at Maraya Art Centre in Al Qasba at 10:00am. Those interested can also learn about the spectrum of workshops and activities by visiting SCB’s official website: www.scbiennial.ae.
