ABU DHABI / GULF TIME
Ramadan is a time for reflection, for connecting with the local community, for expressing gratitude and for making pledges that lead to self-improvement. For many people, the Holy Month is also a magical opportunity to gather with friends and family and make memorable moments while enjoying a delicious iftar feast.
Terra, the hugely popular restaurant, is deeply rooted in the community and its calming rustic nestled spaces serving plates that celebrate locally grown ingredients and produce providing the ideal setting for such a gathering. This Ramadan, the Michelin Guide selected restaurant will be serving up a variety of flavourful dishes that are perfect for sharing at iftar.
As well as dates packed with sweetness and soul-warming soups to break your fast, Terra’s culinary team serves exciting starters such as watermelon salad with heirloom tomatoes, feta and jalapenos for a surprising kick. A nutritious lentil salad with a zaatar dressing and pine nuts is lifted with pieces of pear. Moreish sweet potato croquettes come with aubergine and a seductively sweet pepper chutney, while the succulent wagyu meatballs with yoghurt and a tomato sauce are one of the menu’s highlights.
Moving onto main courses, Terra’s Executive Chef Ibrahim Guner proudly serves juicy lamb chops with smoked eggplant harissa; or an eye-catching salt-baked sea bass accompanied by a crunchy fennel salad. For a truly hearty dish, choose the short ribs with soft ribbons of pappardelle pasta and a rich veal jus or lobster mafaldine with cherry tomatoes and fresh basil. To finish, opt for the wonderful chocolate and pistachio kunafa roll a unique twist on a dish that holds a special place in the hearts of Arabic people.
As well as its welcoming atmosphere and contemporary interior design, Terra is known for its mocktails. Refreshing, inventive and only gently sweetened, the menu includes a new addition of cardamom foam cold brew as well as thirst-quenching mocktails such as a grape mojito, a zesty apple and basil concoction. For the more adventurous, the cucumber yuzu sour or strawberry shiso cooler should be on your list.
