In the presence of Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council; HE Dr Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Media City (Shams) met HE Marwan Bin Jassim Al Sarkal, CEO of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), at the interim premises of Shams. The meeting was an occasion to review several issues relevant to the latest developments in Shams and future development plans. It also discussed potential opportunities for cooperation between Shams and Shurooq to ensure recruitment of the best-in-class talents and investors in areas of media and related fields.
Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi expressed appreciation for the efforts made by the Government of Sharjah to promote media investments in the emirate in line with the vision of HH Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. These efforts serve to ensure the wellbeing of citizens and residents alike and provide an environment that enables the proliferation of knowledge and culture.
He underscored the significant role played by Shams in attracting leading media institutions, talents, and entrepreneurs to work in the Emirate of Sharjah and utilise the lucrative and promising business opportunities created by the city in different sectors.
HE Dr Khalid Omar Al Midfa noted that Shams serves as a role model for free media zones: “Shams, which was established under a decree by HH Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, offers a new dimension to Sharjah’s already diverse offering in terms of media, entrepreneurship, industry knowledge, culture and investment.”
He added, “Shams represents an integrated city where the diverse needs of those working
in the media and investment sectors are met and allow them to thrive. In addition, Shams is an environment that is conducive to investment, the hallmarks of which are excellence, creativity and innovation.”
“Shams is an evolution of the traditional concept of free zones, providing around-the-clock integrated services via smart systems that streamline business for individuals and organisations alike.”
