SGH Dubai received the certificate of excellence as recognition from JCI for the high level of care provided for AMI patients. JCI surveyors assessed the hospital for a period of two days where they looked at the hospital’s processes, policies and measures, while comparing them to the best practices worldwide. The hospital succeeded to prove excellence in the AMI patients’ care by exceeding the international benchmarks for the Door-to-Balloon time of 90 minutes, where in SGH Dubai this average time is less than 60 minutes in average.
This is an evidence of efficiency of the hospital’s processes starting from emergency department to catheterization laboratory, to proper discharge and follow up. The program is a holistic approach for the care of AMI patients, involving a multidisciplinary team from cardiologists, nurses, physiotherapists, and dieticians. That continues after discharge through follow-ups and patient group classes that will foster moral support and therefore faster recovery and return to normal daily activities.
Dr. Reem Osman highlighted on the importance of the hospital’s strong emergency department that facilitated the process of receiving patients from surrounding areas in a very efficient way.
Providing the proper care at the right time, with no delays, has proven much better success rate for AMI patients’ survival and recovery. The aim of SGH Dubai is to be accessible through offering efficient care at the best possible level.
Dr. Reem thanked as well the efforts of the hospital team that led to this accreditation, highlighting the importance of having a medical team with advanced knowledge and expertise in order to get the best patient care.
SGH Dubai is as always aiming to be a beneficial member for the healthcare society, driving the power of improvement and best practices in the health care field.
