Second Dubai nutrition conference begins

The second Dubai Nutrition Conference was inaugurated by Humaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of Dubai Health Authority (DHA).
Experts from UAE, Lebanon, Egypt, Croatia, UK, Canada and Malaysia will
attend the three-day event.
The conference is being held at the InterContinental Festival City, under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, the UAE Finance Minister and President of DHA.
The event will focus on a number of topics such as nutrition for premature infants, use of probiotics for babies in neonatal ICUs, nutrition during the first 1,000 days of life, nutrition and the growing brain, childhood obesity and how to curb its prevalence, hidden sugars in food and beverages, and how modern life has added too much sweetness into one’s daily diet, nutrition for critically ill patients and nutrition to help post-surgery patients to ensure faster recovery.
“DHA is working at various levels for health promotion and disease prevention, and clinical nutrition is a vital aspect to ensure good health. The Dubai Health Strategy 2016-21 also pays significant emphasis to public health promotion,” Al Qatami said.
