Smart Dubai Office (SDO) held an introductory meeting at the Dubai Police General Headquarters, during which HE Dr. Aisha Bint Butti Bin Bishr, Director General of SDO, met Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Commander-in-chief of Dubai Police, to showcase the Smart Dubai Happiness Agenda, which was approved by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai inhabitants happy and Dubai the happiest city in the world.
Smart Dubai is tasked with leading the smart transformation process for Dubai City through smart technology with the aim of providing seamless, safe, efficient and highly impactful experiences. The happiness agenda directly contributes to implementing the goals of the smart transformation agenda, ensuring optimal positive effect on customers’ happiness in Dubai City. Through common efforts with its strategic partners from both the government and private sectors, Smart Dubai is tasked with managing and overseeing the happiness agenda by adopting a globally unique, science-based approach that puts the happiness of the public at the forefront of its priorities and enhancing the happy experiences all over Dubai City.
Dr. Aisha showcased the happiness agenda initiative, which follows an internationally benchmarked change agenda framework, identifying 16 programmes in 4 strategic portfolios – Discover, Measure, Change and Educate – to create an unprecedentedly sustainable level of happiness for Dubai. The initiative focuses mainly on formulating a strategy related to happiness experiences based on scientific grounds and designed to assist decision-makers and leading entities from both the government and private sectors in identifying the impact of policies, programmes and projects in terms of how much they achieve the satisfaction and happiness of the society. The agenda also includes a roadmap developed by Smart Dubai following a careful study which featured a range of policies and programmes to ensure that leaderships are supplied with adequate tools and support structures as necessary for implementing the happiness strategy.
Meanwhile, Al Mazeina reiterated Dubai Police General Headquarters’ support for the strategic goals of the happiness agenda initiative and all relevant government orientations, noting that the goal of bringing happiness to the society became a roadmap towards a highly developed and advanced future based on the fact that a happy man would be more capable of working, producing, contributing positively to the building and development process and hence achieving prosperity and well-being.
Al Mazeina commended the distinguished efforts exerted by the SDO for implementing its happiness agenda with the aim of supporting Dubai’s transformation into a smart city through the adoption of a globally unique, science-based approach that puts the happiness of the public at the forefront of its priorities.
Dubai Police strives to maintain its lead in making its customers happy and has launched many happiness-related initiatives and programmes including an index to measure customers’ happiness about its services, which are provided through its website, smart app and smart watch, and daily monitor their impressions and how happy they are about the offered services with the aim of developing these services and raising customers’ satisfaction and happiness rates in implementation of HH Sheikh Mohammed’s initiative aimed at measuring the happiness of the public and their satisfaction with Dubai government services, he said.
A customer can give his impressions about the level of his happiness most transparently and these impressions are monitored and converted into graphs that are displayed to the people in charge, he added, noting that this would help devise appropriate solutions in case of a problem and also develop services continually based on the fact that every person in charge can directly see the reflections of happy customers.
Al Mazeina stated that Dubai Police was a pioneer in the field of measuring happiness across Dubai through its “Happy City” initiative, which was launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, during GITEX 2015. The initiative gauged the real time happiness of Dubai citizens, residents and visitors through the use of modern smart apps, he added.
Dubai Police also launched the “Pulse of Happiness”, a smart system which is the first of its kind in the region for continually monitoring the employees’ real time happiness reflections in relation with their work environment, volume of work or psychological and social aspects, Al Mazeina said, adding that this would make it easy to devise appropriate solutions for raising employees’ happiness rates. Al Mazeina stated that the initiative was based on Dubai Police’s firm belief that happy employees would be more productive at work and this would directly reflect on the happiness of customers, noting that the measurement results showed that 95.8 per cent of Dubai Police employees were happy.
Dubai Police recently renamed its Department of Community Service as Department of Community Happiness and Customer Service Division as Customer Happiness Division in line with the prudent leadership’s directives and HH Sheikh Mohammed’s aspirations for firmly establishing happiness as a lifestyle to keep up with the requirements of the upcoming stage, in which services are offered to customers and customers are made happy in a creative manner.
The meeting was attended by Major General Mohammad Saeed Al Sharif, Assistant Commander for Administration Affairs, Colonel Khaled Nasser Al-Razzuqi, Director of the General Department of Smart Services, and Colonel Dr. Ahmad Bin Juma Al Subaih, Deputy Director of the General Department of Smart Services. It was also attended by a number of directors of sub-departments of the General Department of Smart Services and Dr. Ali Al Azzawi.
