An impressive 110,000 people from around the region have stepped through the doors of the Expo Centre Sharjah during the first four action-packed days of the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF).
The enormous variety of interactive activities, seminars, workshops and debates is drawing hoards of families and schoolchildren as well as renowned authors, historians, researchers and academics. Among its main goals, the ninth edition of SCRF, which runs until April 29, aims to develop children’s skills and capabilities, using a methodology that
blends fun and entertainment with education.
SCRF’s activities are divided into a number of programmes; The Children’s Programme features 1,403 activities, and hosts 55 guests from 22 countries; The Cookery Programme includes 83 activities conducted by 14 guests from 14 countries, incorporating live cooking demonstrations, cooking competitions and the Little Chef; and The Cultural Programme brings together 60 guests from 23 countries, taking part in more than 40 activities.
SCRF is also hosting ‘Brain: The Inside Story’, that is being organized by the American Museum of Natural History in New York. It is a first-of-its-kind exhibition in the UAE which aims to explain the secrets of the human brain on a thrilling journey that will last throughout the event.
The 11-day SCRF is a fun-packed, entertainment-filled festival of discovery, creativity and excitement and an interactive platform that also brings together some of the world’s best children’s authors to read their popular works to their fans. SCRF also offers an ideal platform for publishers to showcase their new titles.
