Science and arts are key pillars of development, and education should pay attention to them through the adoption of best international practices, H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has noted.
“If technology contributes to push the development wheel forward, arts – including music – serve as a mirror reflecting human feelings and their living memory,” Sheikh Hazza said during an inspection tour of the Bateen School for Boys (Cycle I). He was accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
“As we call for lending care to science and arts, we should also pay attention to learning languages, so students can gain basic skills through which they will be able to express themselves confidently. Those who do not command their mother language, cannot practise creative thinking,” H.H. added.
Sheikh Hazza said it is important for educators to give proper attention to the wellbeing of sports and health, so as to build the student’s own character. Sports provides psychological and mental wellbeing that help students to study.”
Sheikh Hazza was welcomed at the school by Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, Jameela bint Salem Al Muhairi, Minister of State for Public Education, Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Education Council, and a number of senior education officials.
