Sharjah Business Women Council (SBWC) will hold two workshops that will offer participants a glimpse into the art of photography and videography, as well as table setting, and how women can turn those skills into a business.
The first workshop, which will take place on April 16-18 between 10am to 2pm at the Sharjah Art Foundation, will feature a full introduction to photo- and videography, with topics ranging from brainstorming and set design to prop management and editing.
The second workshop, the ‘Art of Table Setting Design Enterprise Workshop’, will be on April 20, between 10am to 3pm, and will also be held at the Sharjah Art Foundation.
Sheikha Hind bint Majid Al Qasimi, Acting Chairperson of Sharjah Business Women Council, said: “Our primary goal with these workshops is to offer support to women to establish businesses or grow existing ones. In providing these regular workshops, women can gain practical knowledge that is essential to their success.â€
“We encourage all our members to communicate with each other to expand the reach of their businesses, and programmes as these are an ideal platform to network with one another. They are a forum to collaborate, interact and share ideas. Ultimately, we aim to empower businesswomen and provide them with the means and the tools to sustain their own
enterprises,†she said.
Adding, “There is an entire spectrum of skills for women to learn in order to build their own businesses and in doing so contribute more to the local and national economy.â€
The workshop is specifically designed for women who have a professional interest in the visual arts or are passionate about it, and consider it a viable option for a business or career.
The hands-on course, held by Abdulaziz Al Surayia and Zainab Al Baghli jointly, will help participants learn how to turn their hobby of photography or videography into a business.
The Art of Table setting workshop “Set a table, tell a storyâ€, will be delivered by Zainab Al Baghli, an inspirational entrepreneur who transformed her life from being a full-time mother of three, to a professional table setting designer.
The workshop is designed to provide women with the principles of table setting and décor. The class will cover a range of topics including creating dining experiences, the correct placing and settings of utensils, the different styles of service, the basics of napkin care and folding and the correct way to care and clean silverware.
Sheikha Hind said, “The guidance we give and the response we receive is testament to the success of these activities. Without practical ability, theoretical knowledge is nothing.â€
