Saqr Ghobash meets with UAE-Italy Friendship Group

Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), has met with the UAE-Italy Friendship Group chaired by Salvatore Caiata, and discussed ways to strengthen parliamentary cooperation between the FNC and the Italian Parliament, including coordination on issues of mutual interest.
During the meeting at the Italian Parliament, both sides emphasised their shared alignment on crucial international issues, highlighting the robust bilateral relations and the potential for enhanced cooperation to promote stability and peace regionally and globally.
Ghobash highlighted the UAE-Italy longstanding and fruitful partnership, noting that Italy is one of the UAE’s most important trade partners within the European Union. He also praised the efforts of the Friendship Group in advancing political dialogue and developing consultation mechanisms, which contribute to productive collaboration between the two countries.
He stressed the importance of taking practical steps to activate the role of parliamentary friendship committees through regular meetings, exchanges of visits and expertise, and discussions on legislation supporting bilateral cooperation in economic, cultural, and educational sectors.
Ghobash also invited the chairman and members of the Friendship Group to visit the UAE to foster direct dialogue between parliaments and explore additional avenues of collaboration to benefit both countries and their people.
In turn, Caiata commended the UAE’s role as a model of development, tolerance, and progress, highlighting the safety and security enjoyed in the country.
The meeting was attended by several officials.
