Russia pulls troops off Snake Island after Ukraine strikes

Russia confirmed it withdrew troops from Ukraine’s Snake Island in the Black Sea after the Ukrainian military said it had driven them out under massive attack.
The Defense Ministry in Moscow called the decision a gesture aimed at easing grain shipments from Ukraine, but a top official in Kyiv dismissed that claim. There was no sign of a long-sought deal on deliveries aimed at easing a global food crisis. “This is a complete fake,” Andriy Yermak, chief of Ukraine’s presidential staff, said, adding that Kyiv’s forces had pushed out the Russian troops from the island.
