On April 29, the 33rd Abu Dhabi International Book Fair opened at the Abu Dhabi National Convention and Exhibition Center. Chinese books made a wonderful appearance, China and Arab Countries publishing and cultural exchanges were held one after another, the fragrance of Chinese books filled the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, the ties of China and Arab Countries publishing and cultural exchanges became tighter and tighter, and China and Arab Countries civilizations mingled with each other by using books as a bridge.
In this exhibition, 14 publishers, including China Education and Media Group and People’s Publishing House, displayed nearly 1,000 titles of high-quality books, focusing on the promotion of President Xi Jinping’s works and related study books in Chinese and Arabic for the mainstream Arab society, as well as the promotion of international publishing and overseas distribution. The exhibition will also focus on the “Chinese Painting Series”, “China’s Good Books 2023”, as well as domestic series and sets of high-quality books. Close to the reading habits of Arab readers, the exhibition will promote the works of Chinese contemporary literature (including children’s literature). Arab readers from all walks of life passed by the Chinese booth, stopped to read and placed orders for books on the spot.
In order to promote China and Arab Countries 100 books translation and publication project to take the lead in Abu Dhabi, Chinese publishers and Arab publishers cooperated to hold a China and Arab Countries classic literature translation seminar to discuss the translation and publication of classic literature produced under the cultivation of the two major civilizations of China and Arab Countries. China and Arab Countries Copyright Trade Conference, which has been held for many consecutive years, with Chinese and Arab copyright managers talking about friendship and cooperation, and a number of Chinese masterpieces realizing copyright export.
The Arabic book launch of The Three-Body Problem, organized by China Education Book Import and Export Corporation and Compass Publishing House of the United Arab Emirates, enhanced Arab readers’ knowledge and understanding of Chinese sci-fi literature, expanded the international influence of The Three-Body Problem, and raised the visibility of Chinese sci-fi literature in the international arena. The “Printing Friendship, Book Fragrance” movable-type printing experience activity was organized to let Arab readers experience the charm of Chinese printing culture through interactive experience.
It is reported that the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair was founded in 1991, organized by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, the Abu Dhabi Arab Language Center specific undertakings, and it is one of the largest and most influential international book fairs in the West Asia North Africa region.
