President’s Initiatives Committee OKs new infrastructure projects

The Follow up Committee of the Initiatives of UAE President approved a number of infrastructural and environmental projects in implementation of the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the follow-up of His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
In its meeting on Wednesday, chaired by Ahmed Juma Al Zaabi, Deputy Minister of Presidential Affairs, the committee discussed in the presence of Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al-Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, a federal project for Integrated Solid Waste Management (ISWM) and another one on Construction Waste Management.
The committee approved a 5,000 cubic metre per day sewage treatment plant in the Emirate of Umm Al Qaiwain at an estimated total cost of AED16 million and awarded an AED31 million contract for establishment and maintenance of dams in the emirate of Sharjah. An amount of AED9 million was also allocated for completing 12 houses in the emirates of Dubai, Sharjah, Umm Al Qaiwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah.
Al Zaabi said these projects constituted a qualitative addition to the modern infrastructure in the country which would contribute to protecting the environment by recycling the waste and turning it into energy.
