Dubai International Airport announced that air traffic returned to normal after a delay of several hours after Emirates’ flight EK521, coming from Thiruvananthapuram in India to Dubai, was involved in an incident at the airport this afternoon.
A FEDEX aircraft was the first to take off from the airport while an Emirates flight also landed at 6:43pm (UAE local time).
Meanwhile, the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) announced that a firefighter lost his life while putting out the fire aboard the Emirates flight and saving the lives of the others.
Emirates has announced that there would be no fee for cancellation or re-booking of flights due to today’s incident. The airline also said this is aimed at ensuring passenger comfort through Dubai International Airport and Dubai World Central (DWC).
In the same context, Dubai Airport has offered beverages at all restaurants to all passengers at all airports for free.
