The Board of Directors of the National Qualifications Authority (NQA) agreed on the creation of an experimental “Continuous Education Units” project, to determine professional development goals for targeted professions according to job market needs, under the direction of the UAE’s future development plans.
The project’s launch was approved during a meeting of the NQA’s Board of Directors, chaired by Saqr Ghobash, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation. The programme seeks to harmonise the NQA’s pivotal role in co-ordinating joint work between all authorities in the sectors of education, training and the job market, on both a federal and local level.
The meeting highlighted the most important strategic achievements of the NQA during 2016, and discussed a number of issues relating to the country’s education and training sector. Most important was a report on the “Recognition of Prior Learning” system, launched by the authority, in co-operation with a number of educational and training institutions and leading national universities in the country.
The authority also unveiled the “Continuous Education Units” project, a new course that aims to encourage individuals to continue improving their professional skills and education by constant involvement in certified educational and training programmes.
The launch of the new “Recognition of Prior Learning” system, which has already benefited 100 of the country’s citizens, is one of the most important NQA projects to date. It was developed in co-ordination with educational authorities.
