To strengthen cooperation in the field of training and mutual recognition of qualifications between the United Arab Emirates and South Korea, NQA received a Korean delegation from Seoul National University and the Korean Institute of Vocational Education and Training (KRIVET), the national institute for research technical and vocational training, studies and qualifications frameworks’ within the Prime Minister Office.
The delegation was received by HE Dr Thani Al Muhairi, Director General of the National Qualifications Authority and HE Nourah Al Matrooshi, Executive Director, Qualifications and Department Heads. The two parties discussed the mechanism and strategy for mutual recognition of qualifications, particularly the vocational Korean qualifications. They also discussed the means to build and strengthen the bonds of partnership and to develop the vocational and employment skills of specialised sectors.
NQA presented a detailed explanation about the concept of an integrated qualifications framework and its role and importance to promote knowledge in the United Arab Emirates. They also reviewed the strategic role of the authority in the development of education and training sector and the mechanism linking education outcomes with labour market needs, in order to achieve the strategic visions of the nation to prepare qualified nationals able to keep up with global changes. The Korean delegation discussed vocational training and rehabilitation fields and the mechanisms to facilitate the exchange of manpower ultimately contributing to the economic development of both countries.
Within the same context, HE Dr Al Muhairi, declared that this visit falls within the framework of bilateral relations between the UAE and Korea, especially in terms of exchange of technical expertise in the areas of training and development of qualifications and the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding that was signed in December 2012 with the Korean Human Resources Development Foundation to promote cooperation, exchange of experience and mutual recognition of vocational qualifications between the two nations.
HE Al Matrooshi confirmed that this visit fulfils the importance of exchanging experience and strengthening the cooperation of national and international experience in the development of the UAE qualifications frameworks and its relationship to the labour force sectors.
