President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, bestowed the First Class Order of Zayed II on Murray McCully, Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand, in recognition to his efforts in strengthening joint bilateral relations and developing co-operation between the UAE and New Zealand.
HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, decorated McCully with the Order during a meeting at the ministry in Abu Dhabi on Monday.
The UAE Foreign Minister commended McCully’s outstanding work. The New Zealand minister contributed effectively to expanding the relations between the UAE and New Zealand as well as strengthening their co-operation in various fields, he said.
McCully thanked the UAE President for conferring the high-calibre medal on him. He also praised the wise policy of President Khalifa, citing his prominent role at the regional and international levels, and thanked Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed for his great efforts in promoting friendly relations between the UAE and New Zealand.
He also reiterated his sincere thanks and gratitude to the UAE leadership and people of the UAE for the honour.
Following the ceremony, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and McCully discussed ways to strengthen joint bilateral relations between the UAE and New Zealand in all areas,
including investment, economy, educational and food
security as well as exchanging views on the latest regional and international developments. They also discussed several
issues of common concern.
