Safety of tyres and passenger vehicles was the crux of a workshop organised recently by the Ministry of Economy (MoE) as part of ongoing collaboration among all state departments concerned at the local and federal levels to ensure consumer safety and protection against all forms of commercial fraud..
The workshop was organised in collaboration with the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA), as part nationwide efforts to increase awareness about the importance of adhering to safe purchasing practices and limiting the number of accidents attributable to faulty tyres that don’t meet the
required standards.
It was chaired by Humaid bin Butti Al Muhairi, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Corporate Sector and Consumer Protection at the Ministry of Economy, who underscored the importance attached by state departments concerned to safety of vehicle tyres owing to their direct impact on consumer protection.
Al Muhairi appreciated the efforts made by ESMA and Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council to exchange experience and knowledge and enhance consumer awareness about the standards that should be followed and adhered to while purchasing essential commodities, such as tyres, in order to fight counterfeit.
