The Ministry of Economy organized on Sunday an inspection of the Abu Dhabi Cooperative Society’s Abu Dhabi Mall branch as part of its ongoing programme to visit markets and retail stores across the UAE during the holy month of Ramadan.
The initiative aims to ensure that prices are controlled and that commitments to sales offers and initiatives launched ahead of the holy month are honoured. It supports broader efforts by the Ministry to enforce responsible business practices and protect the UAE’s consumers.
The visit was led by Dr. Hashim Al Nuaimi, Director of the Ministry’s Consumer Protection Department, in the presence of representatives of the Abu Dhabi Cooperative Society’s management and local media members.
The Coop’s management explained that it has launched three discount offers for the holy month of Ramadan ranging between 20 and 70 percent. Eid Al Fitr offers will start on June 30 and will last for 10 days until July 9.
The promotions include 300 food products and high-demand consumer products for the Eid period. The management noted that the offers and discounts have increased sales, with the branch now accommodating 6,000 to 7,000 shoppers daily.
Dr. Al Nuaimi said that the discount campaigns and the Ramadan basket initiatives that are being launched by the Abu Dhabi Coop as well as other coops and points of sale across the Emirates this
year have reduced prices by as much as
50 percent.
