Meet on carbon capture, storage techniques held

A meeting on carbon capture and storage (CCS), techniques has been hosted by the UAE Ministry of Energy in Abu Dhabi.
It was the second biannual meeting of the Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum, CSLF, an international climate change initiative focused on the development of improved cost-effective technologies for carbon capture and storage.
The forum is aimed to promote awareness and champion legal, regulatory, financial, and institutional environments conducive to such technologies.
Addressing a technical workshop held on the sidelines of the forum, Fatima Al Foora Al Shamsi, the Ministry’s Assistant Under-Secretary for Electricity and Future Energy Affairs, said that hosting the meeting in Abu Dhabi comes as part of the prudent policy adopted by the wise leadership of the UAE, and their future-oriented vision premised to forging channels of sustainable strategic cooperation with all parties concerned with tackling the climate change phenomenon.”
“The meeting reflects the central role played by the UAE in areas of clean energy and sustainable development as well as in the use of innovative technology to facilitate the deployment of CCS technologies via collaborative efforts that address key technical, economic, and environmental obstacles,” she added.
The UAE will host the ministerial-level CSLF in December which will group together ministers of the member states and a select of researchers and
decision makers.
