The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) signed an agreement with Emirates Islamic Bank, whereby both parties will collaborate to support efforts to mark the Year of Giving 2017.
In the agreement, the Foundation and Emirates Islamic pledge to exchange knowledge and expertise, and to launch joint initiatives and projects to promote social responsibility. The agreement seeks to promote active cooperation and partnership between the two parties, and to broaden the scope of the efforts that seek to disseminate knowledge and promote the use of the Arabic language among all segments of society.
Moreover, Emirates Islamic has pledged to support the Smart Reading Library Bags initiative, which seeks to teach the Arabic language to children aged 12 and below using modern, interactive tools that MBRF is introducing to the Arab region through its subsidiary, Qindeel Educational.
His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, said that the Foundation is keen to launch innovative initiatives that serve to produce and disseminate knowledge, and to build effective partnerships that provide access to knowledge for all segments of society. The MBRF CEO went on to laud Emirates Islamic for its instrumental role in supporting initiatives that seek to spread knowledge.
This kind of partnership, H.E. bin Huwaireb explained, resonates with the Foundation’s vision and advances its plans to strengthen cooperation with government and private organisations, as directed by the UAE’s wise leadership, and in in keeping with the spirit of the Year of Giving 2017 initiative, launched by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.
Awatif Al Harmoody, General Manager – Operational Quality & Processes at Emirates Islamic, noted that the agreement provides an opportunity to develop the concept of self-education and to bring it to children who lack access to education – the Smart Reading Library Bags is one of the most important initiative that serve this purpose. Al Harmoody added that Emirates Islamic will be supporting the initiative through the Emirates Islamic Charity Fund.
Smart Reading Library Bags are a portable library that includes interactive tools to teach reading, writing, and numbers to children, in addition to stories and interactive books designed to teach math, social studies, science, and astronomy. The bag containing the smart cards, meanwhile, will teach children about family issues, the Qur’an, prayers, and stories of the prophets.
As per the agreement, the Foundation will work through Qindeel Educational to distribute the Smart Bags to families in the UAE, as well as a number of select sites abroad – especially refugee camps around the region.
