Mansour bin Zayed receives delegation of Cooperative Union of Fishermen’s Associations

His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, received a delegation from the UAE Fishermen’s Cooperative Union in the country, while accompanied by Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak Al Shamsi, Minister of Climate Change and the Environment.
During the meeting at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, His Highness was briefed by the delegation on the union’s role in supporting fishermen and its initiatives to encourage them to continue practicing this profession, alongside the challenges they face and practical solutions for them, in addition to its role in preserving the fish wealth and the fishing profession, which is part of the UAE heritage.
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasised that the UAE leadership attaches great importance to providing all means of support and encouragement to fishermen to preserve the prosperity of this vital activity, which is one of the country’s economic and social pillars. He added that fish wealth represents a key pillar of food security and efforts should be made to develop and sustain it for current and future generations, as well as ensuring the sustainability of the marine environment.
The delegation expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the continuous support provided by the wise leadership under President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the fishermen, as it played a pivotal role in the development of this sector and the preservation of the fishing profession and its sustainability. They commended the interest of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan in the affairs of fishermen and his keenness to listen to them to help overcome the challenges facing this profession.
