Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) said it was investigating security violations that had taken place in recent days at Sharara oil field, the country’s largest. The NOC gave no detail of the incidents in a statement released late on Sunday, but said the head of security at the field had reported that the breaches were due to “individual action†and that “the security situation is goodâ€.
The statement did not mention any impact on production. Sharara has been producing about 270,000 barrels per day (bpd). It reopened in December after a two-year blockade was lifted, but has since suffered several shutdowns or partial shutdowns because of action by armed groups and a strike by workers. The NOC operates Sharara in partnership with Repsol , Total, OMV and Statoil.
