His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai has said that the UAE is keen on promoting innovation culture in government and among people, as well as spreading knowledge to build a generation of Arab innovators and future leaders. His Highness also said that the UAE invests in human capital and in empowering them so they can contribute to solving tomorrow’s challenges.
His Highness’s remarks came as he launched “Ibtekr” platform, the first interactive platform designed by the Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation (MBRCGI).
HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council; Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and The Future; and Assistant To The Director-General For Strategy And Innovation, Huda Al Hashimi, were all present at the event.
“Knowledge is key to create a brighter future for the Arab World. The progress of nations is linked to their ability to provide conducive environment that incubate modern sciences. We believe that government innovation is key for all progress and development, and an engine to build the future, where creating conducive environments that attract innovators, will turn individual innovation into a government practice,” His Highness added.
“Ibtekr” platform has been created to spread the culture of innovation, to build capabilities of the Arab world, and to share the successful government innovation models of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. Aiming to attract over 30 million people worldwide, the Ibtekr platform seeks to accelerate the creation of a generation of Arab innovators and future leaders.
Ibtekr platform also offers high-quality Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) that are developed by Arab experts, academics and UAE government leaders. It provides the opportunity to enroll for free in a variety of courses for all Arabic speakers, and grants students accredited certificates from the MBRCGI.
The Ibtekr platform also offers a set of scientific tools and methodologies designed to raise the awareness on the importance of innovation and build capabilities
of designing and implementing innovative ideas.
Furthermore, Ibtekr hosts innovative experiences from multiple countries that showcased their innovations at the edge of Government as part of the World Government Summit 2018, to challenge visitors to think in new and often counter intuitive ways about how the most pressing public challenges of our time can be solved.
Ibtekr platform will host an integrated knowledge database through an e-library that includes thousands of books, references, research papers, reports, and international statistical reports in all disciplines in both Arabic and English languages. It will offer master classes with leading Arabic and international figures, live-streaming for specialized sessions, workshops that boost innovation skills, and hosts talks with prominent experts from around the world. In addition, the Ibtekr platform will include Innovators Society to connect Chief Innovation Officers with a global network of experts and specialists to share experiences and best practices locally and internationally.
