Abu Dhabi Ports, the master developer, operator and manager of ports and Khalifa Industrial Zone (Kizad) in the Emirate, has announced the launch of the second phase of Kizad Logistics Park (KLP) — Non Free Zone warehousing. KLP has high-quality warehouses in Kizad’s logistics cluster and is set to become one of the leading warehousing centres in the region.
Following the success of KLP Phase 1, Kizad has started construction on the second phase of the project. 64 high-quality modular warehouse units are set to be handed over to tenants by Q3 of this year (2016) bringing the total number of units to 105 covering an area of 118,965 square metres.
Commenting on this new development, Mana Mohammed Saeed Al Mulla, Chief Operating Officer, Kizad said, “Kizad’s development follows a demand-driven approach; responding to the needs of the market and designing flexible solutions accordingly. The 41 warehouses in Phase 1 were 83 per cent leased prior to construction being completed and 100 per cent leased a few months after that. Since then the need for more high-quality warehousing units has encouraged us to start building Phase 2 of KLP.â€
“In a challenging leasing environment, superior pre-built offerings support businesses with their logistics requirements and the success of KLP’s Phase 1 only proves that Kizad is the ideal solution offering an exceptional location, world-class infrastructure and dedicated investor support in a competitive operating environment,†he continued.
KLP warehouses are each equipped with 7 metre clear height to eaves on a 1.3 metre raised floor level, dedicated loading areas, ramp access and designated on-site parking. Each unit has an area of 1,133 square metres with a mezzanine office (shell and core) and larger units can be created by removing internal walls – up to 9,064 square metres. Ample power for air conditioning is provided in all warehouses and cold storage options in selected units. It is worth noting that the next phase of development within Kizad will be the free zone pre-built warehouses (Free Zone KLP) currently under design.
