Healthcare providers in India are expected to spend $1.2 billion on information technology (IT) products and services in 2016, an increase of 3.4% over 2015, according to research firm Gartner, Inc.
The spending includes expenses on internal services, software, IT services, data centre, devices and telecom services, the research firm said.
“IT services, which includes consulting, software support, implementation, hardware, IT outsourcing (ITO) and business process outsourcing (BPO), will continue to be the largest overall spending category within the health care providers sector,†said Moutusi Sau principal research analyst at Gartner.
IT services is expected to reach $339mn in 2016, growing 5.2% over 2015. The BPO sub-segment will record the fastest growth rate of 15.4% over 2015. IT outsourcing will be the largest sub-segment in IT services recording a 7.5% increase in 2016 to reach $107mn in 2016.
The software market will grow 6% in 2016 to reach $106mn, up from $100 million in 2015, while the infrastructure will grow 4.5% in 2016 to reach $43mn.
India will remain the world’s fastest growing information technology (IT) market in 2016 as it is expected to spend more than $72 billion on IT services, products and hardware, up from 7.2% from the current year, according to an earlier report by Gartner. The healthcare IT would comprise about 2% of the total IT spend, driven by expansion of public sector healthcare focussed on providing access to care mainly through primary coverage and leveraging mobile technologies.
The private sector will focus on building middle-tier and tertiary care facilities, mainly for the city dwellers.
