The International Fund for Houbara Conservation (IFHC) participated in the President’s Falconry Cup in Abu Dhabi, where it has held an awareness workshop for the falconers competing in this year’s championship.
The workshop was organised as part of a seasonal program aligned with the Fund’s efforts to enhance the UAE’s role in wildlife conservation, sustainability and the preservation of the local culture.
The IFHC continues to work towards reinstating a healthy and sustainable population of Houbara bustard in the wild to preserve the ecological environment related to the culture, heritage and desert physiognomy.
The workshop, which included various discussions and Q&A sessions, was well received by the attendees. Participants also got a first hand look at the Fund’s achievements since its establishment in 2006. At the closing of the workshop, attendees received gifts as a token of appreciation for their participation.
The International Fund for Houbara Conservation is tasked with overseeing the conservation and restoration of the wild Houbara populations to numbers that will ensure their long-term preservation, while maintaining a traditional pillar of Arabian heritage -Falconry.
