HCT, NAS of Belarus sign cooperation agreement

The Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), the largest higher education institution in the UAE, and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NAS), have signed a cooperation agreement in the field of science and research training.
Sealed by Dr Abdullatif Al Shamsi, Vice Chancellor of HCT, and Professor Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of the Presidium of NAS, in Minsk, the agreement provides for the exchange of scientific information, mutual visits of scientists and researchers, organizing joint seminars, workshops and training programmes to promote research in areas of mutual interest, as well as the training of the academic staff at the level of master’s and PhD programmes besides making provision for appropriate scholarships.
The Agreement’s signing is part of the efforts made by the UAE to achieve by 2021 a sustainable and diverse knowledge economy by making investments in human capital development and training of students with modern skills.
Al Shamsi said the five-year agreement would focus on scientific research which plays an important role in building knowledge wealth.
For his part, Professor Gusakov said the agreement would open up new avenues to conclude additional partnerships for advanced training programmes and post-graduate scholarships.
Founded in October 1928, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is the guiding research center of Belarus, which unites the highly-skilled scientists of different specialties and dozens of research, scientific-production, design and inculcation organizations.
