Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, the Global Women’s Forum Dubai, 2016, opened on Tuesday at the Madinat Jumeirah, with the participation of some 2,000 leaders and decision-makers in the public and private sectors, experts, and researchers from the region and around the world.
During the proceedings of the official opening of the Forum, which was organised by the Dubai Women Establishment and in collaboration with the Women’s Forum for Economy and Society, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, awarded the ‘Mohammed bin Rashid Award for Women’ to Her Majesty Queen Rania Abdullah of Jordan and Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, which is the first badge of honour reserved for women at an international level by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed. This honour comes in recognition of their achievements in various sectors.
