dubizzle – UAE’s leading classifieds platform – reveals impressive savings on essentials for the home through its Items for Sale section, compared to the average price of similar brand-new items.
By calculating the average costs of home essentials listed on dubizzle over the past year, the platform revealed that furnishing a studio flat* and a baby’s room** through dubizzle would save residents up to 40% and 42% respectively, compared to purchasing similar brand-new items from well-known furniture stores.
The average price of items bought on dubizzle over the past year is AED 5,930, while the original price of similar items equates to roughly AED 10,000.

The average cost of a brand-new two-seater couch is AED 1,000; however, the average price of a similar item sold on dubizzle’s Items for Sale section is AED500, highlighting a 50% saving. Similarly, the cost of a dining table set with two chairs averages at AED600 brand-new, while the dubizzle average price is one-third cheaper, at AED 200.
When taking a look at the top searched words in relation to furniture, ‘Ikea’ ranks first, with an average of 7475 searches per month, followed by ‘Sofa Bed’ and “Leather Furniture” at 6231 and 4843 average monthly searches respectively. The top searched appliances are fridges, washing machines and microwaves respectively.
Similar price trends are observed for baby items, an average of 8,376 new baby items has been listed on dubizzle every month, with a daily average of 279 listings.
The average price for a pre-loved baby-walker is AED 130, as opposed to AED 300 when a new item is bought. Baby cribs average at AED 370 on dubizzle, therefore resulting in a 38% saving over purchasing a brand-new equivalent, averaging at AED 600.
In relation to entertainment items for the home, the top TV brands searched were identified as “Samsung”, followed by “LG” and “Sony” respectively.
The average price of a brand-new flat-screen, 40-inch TV is AED 1,200, while a TV with the same specifications is available for AED 700 on dubizzle, saving users 42% on the original cost. Purchasing a pre-loved PlayStation 4 from dubizzle can save users up to 22%, with the average price identified as AED 1,250, compared to the brand-new price of AED 1,600.
