MUKALLA/ WAM
The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has launched a campaign to support charitable bakeries in Mukalla, Ash Shihr, and Ghail Bawazir in Hadramaut Governorate, Yemen. The goal is to enhance food security and address the needs of the local population.
This effort is part of ERC’s continuous support for needy families in the governorate. During the second half of Ramadan, the first phase of the campaign will provide 500 bags of flour to five charitable bakeries in the mentioned districts. This support will enable them to produce an adequate amount of bread.
Salem Omar Baras, Supervisor of Charitable Bakeries in the Governorate, highlighted the significance of this campaign in promoting economic stability and improving living conditions in the targeted areas. He emphasised that the initiative, backed by ERC, has been instrumental in assisting families facing shortages of essential items due to the high cost of living and challenging circumstances in the country.
Hamed Salem Qawaya, Supervisor of ERC Projects in Hadramaut Governorate, clarified that the campaign will progress with additional phases to boost the operational capacity of charitable bakeries and broaden their impact, aiding the local community’s needs and fostering self-sufficiency in bread production.
These endeavours align with the UAE’s unwavering dedication to supporting needy families in the governorate, enhancing stability and development in underprivileged regions, and enhancing economic and social conditions for local communities.
Over the years, ERC has executed numerous humanitarian and development projects in Hadramaut Governorate and other liberated regions. These initiatives have significantly improved living standards and catered to the population’s requirements in various areas.
