As part of its role in enhancing the competence of UAE nationals, Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) has launched a summer training programme for Emirati university students to boost their learning process and expose them to latest technologies, innovations and environmental solutions.
“The summer programme demonstrates our commitment to our country by training the UAE nationals to work in the technology, creativity, business environment and management sector. The programme aims to increase the competencies of the students through on-site training. The trainees also acquire experience of dealing with many situations and decision making, and other aspects of Empower’s operations,” Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, said.
The training covers mechanical engineering and business administration as well as electrical and chemical engineering. The targeted universities include the United Arab Emirates University, Zayed University, Dubai Men’s College, Dubai Women’s College, Canadian University of Dubai, Indiana Bloomington and American University in Sharjah.
Training periods vary according to each discipline. Scientific disciplines last for about 15 weeks, while theoretical training ranges from 5 to 7 weeks. “We take part in enhancing the skills of a new generation in various branches of practical and theoretical technology, thus helping these students meet the challenges of the future,” he added.
Bin Shafar assured the continuity of training programmes in order to raise the efficiency of the students and prepare them for the requirements of the labour market. He also encouraged students to request for training at Empower.
He also called on the national institutions and private bodies to support students through ambitious training programmes in order to enhance the readiness of a new generation of qualified professionals.
