Abu Dhabi / WAM

Emirates Post on Sunday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq).
The MoU stipulates the launch of commemorative postage stamps and special edition postcards that will be sold to visitors of the Al Bareed Café, a unique coffee house located in the “Heart of Sharjah.”
Rashed Huraiz Alfalasi, Acting Chief Retail Officer at Emirates Post, and Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, Chief Operating Officer of Shurooq, signed the agreement, which will help showcase the Heart of Sharjah by creating distinctive curated postcards.
The Heart of Sharjah is the cultural and heritage district of Sharjah, which aims to preserve and restore cultural heritage landmarks and develop them into popular tourism destinations.

As part of the agreement, Emirates Post will issue commemorative postage stamps and display special edition postcards at the Al Bareed Cafe. Visitors can choose their postcard, buy a stamp, and post them to their families and loved ones using a mailbox in the cafe.
Commenting on the new agreement, Alfalasi said, “Emirates Post has leveraged its strong partnership with leading institutions in the UAE to develop tailored products and services that deliver happiness and memorable moments to our customers, including stamp collectors. We are confident that this partnership with Shurooq validates Emirates Post’s role in chronicling the UAE’s history, culture and achievements.”
“Innovation is one of our core values, and we constantly seek new ways of enhancing our positive footprint and strong presence, as a brand offering tailored postal and express services. We remain committed to cooperating with all entities and employing our capabilities to support their initiatives and business growth,” he added.
“The new partnership is in line with Shurooq’s strategy to work with various state entities, to collectively promote Sharjah’s rich Emirati culture and heritage through its tourism destinations and projects,” Al Qaseer said.
Emirates Post aims to launch more joint postage editions, in cooperation with local, regional and international partners, to document the UAE’s important historic and national events.
