Emirates Foundation launches ‘Think Science’ competition

Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Chairman of Emirates Foundation, the Emirates Foundation has officially launched the 5th edition of ‘Think Science’ competition 2017.
The nationwide initiative is designed to empower youth to actively engage with the digital and industrial revolution and sharpen their Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics,STEM, skills in line with the Science, Technology and Innovation, STI, policy adopted by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the country’s march towards progress, economic diversification and prosperity.
The competition is part of the Emirates Foundation’s Think Science programme, which aims to encourage, and empower Emirati youth, to design, develop and build science-based innovations and apply scientific skills to addressing the nation’s most pressing challenges. The competition, which is supported by the Ministry of Education and Abu Dhabi Education Council, will target hundreds of youth from schools and universities across the UAE.
Commenting on the importance of the competition, Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, said, “Nationwide initiatives such as Think Science competition play a key role in enabling youth to put into practice the science curriculum they acquire in the classroom and apply it to real-life situations. Such experiential and hands on science completions will support youth to build their self-confidence and establish a sense of preparedness to pursue a STEM university degrees and careers.”
