Dubai South and Expo 2020 Dubai are collaborating at this year’s Cityscape Global to showcase the legacy that will be generated by the Expo and how it forms a part of the residential lifestyle opportunities for thousands of individuals within Dubai South in the run up to, and post, the mega-event.
The Expo 2020 site in the emirate’s flagship urban project, Dubai South, a purpose-built, 145sq km airport city, is an integral aspect of the city’s foundation. Dubai South is envisioned as a multi-modal platform supporting a number of activities and related businesses with the purpose of developing into a key economic global hub. Dubai South’s Residential District, which sits adjacent to the Expo site, is being master-planned to offer world-class community living within an urban environment.
Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director-General of Bureau Dubai Expo 2020, welcomed the joint exhibition by Expo and Dubai South at Cityscape. “We are building a site that will be home to an exceptional event, and the basis for a hub in the UAE knowledge economy that ensures our Expo creates a lasting legacy, at the heart of the wider development of Dubai South. Our collaboration at Cityscape reflects the beneficial complementary nature of our relationship.”
Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Chairman, Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South, said, “At Dubai South we are actively engaged in creating a long lasting and sustainable legacy beyond Expo 2020, through a forward thinking masterplan that creates the framework for Dubai’s future economy. We are working with Expo 2020 Dubai on multiple fronts to establish a more business friendly environment for companies contributing to the big event, as well as develop real estate projects that appeal to investors and residents in the long term.
“Hosting the AED 25 billion Expo 2020 Dubai will showcase Dubai’s capabilities to the world as well as serve to attract entrepreneurs, businesses and investors to explore the lucrative opportunities that the UAE has to offer,” he said.
Expo 2020 Dubai is expected to stimulate economic activity in the UAE, with the scale of investments spurring a positive effect on various market segments and employment numbers. With nearly a third of the world’s population within 4 hours flying distance, 25 million visitors are expected for the event. This impact of hosting the Expo, and the international showcase it provides, is expected to encourage demand for residential properties as well as boost sectors such as hospitality and tourism.
Dubai South is set to unveil two new unique residential projects as part of its Residential District. The ethos of these projects strongly hinges on happiness, which is carried through all aspects of planning and development; from ensuring all necessary amenities, such as schools, clinics and retail are all within convenient walking distances, to creating a community that provides solutions for everyday living.
Expo 2020 Dubai will be present at the Dubai South stand at Cityscape Global taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from September, 6-8.
